
Ebonyi International Airport begins flight operations

The newly constructed International Airport by Ebonyi State government commenced flight operations with the landing of two inaugural flights on Thursday.
The two aircrafts, Air Peace landed at the airport at 3:45pm and 4:10pm.
Governor Dave Umahi expressed gratitude to God over what he described as a dream come true.
He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for approving N10bn for the takeoff of the airport project.
The airport is named after Mr Buhari.
He described the airport as the fastest approved airport in Nigeria.
Former Governor of the state, Chief Martin Elechi in his remarks said the project would connect the state to the world.
Mr Elechi was of the view that Ebonyi state needed the airport thereby countering those who viewed the project as a waste of scarce resources.
“Yes, we need an airport. World of yesterday is no more world of today.We thankful to God for what has happened to me state”, he stated.
Representative of Chairman of Air Peace, Chief Allen Onyema, Mr. Collins described the landing on the airport as historic.
“Coming to Ebonyi is a history, I will never forget in my life. We will come and do more flight here”, he stated.
