Equities investors gain N128.31bn as NGX-ASI appreciates by 0.23%
Nigeria’s equities market closed positive on Friday, as the NGX-ASI increased to 96,433.53 from 96,210.20 recorded at the close of the previous trading day; indicating a YTD return of +28.97%.

Market capitalization increased by N128.31 billion to 55,394.01 trillion from 55,265.70 trillion recorded at the close of the previous trading day. Similarly, the market turnover increased to N12.023 billion from N9.565 billion.
At the end of the last weekday of trading,, a total of 380,650,155 shares in 7,981 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 8,466,302,181.49, were traded. Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Thursday, September 5), today’s data shows 2% decline in volume, 11% decline in turnover, and 19% decline in deals. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 55.4 trillion.
In the aggregate, 118 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 39 gainers and 18 losers. Oando led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 81.40 per share, followed by UAC of Nigeria (+10%), Skye Shelter Fund (+9.97%) and Berger Paints (+9.97%).
On the losing side, Deap Capital Management & Trust came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 9.62% at NGN 0.94 per share, followed by PZ Cussons Nigeria (-9.52%), Eterna (-6.25%) and Consolidated Hallmark Holdings (-5.59%). Jaiz Bank recorded the highest volume of 54.4 million traded shares, followed by Zenith Bank (34.6m), Notore Chemical Industries (34.3m) and Transcorp Nigeria (21.8m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) inched up 223.33 (0.23%) points to close at 96,433.53, representing a 1-week loss of 0.15%, a 4-week loss of 2.19%, but an overall year-to-date gain of 28.97%.
