Equities investors gain N580.23bn as  bullish trend continues

 NGX-ASI increases  by 1.65%

 Nigeria’s  Equities Market closed positive on  Tuesday as the NGX-ASI increased by 1.65% to close at 65,669.29 compared to 64,603.69 recorded at the close of the previous trading day; indicating a YTD return of +28.13%.

 Market capitalization increased by N580.23 billion to N35.7576 trillion from N35.1774 trillion recorded at the close of the previous trading day, while the market turnover decreased to N9.41 billion from N22.03 billion recorded at the close of the previous trading day.

At the end of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NGX), a total of 844,715,909 shares in 8,922 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 9,412,564,761.38, were traded.

Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Monday, July 10), today’s data shows 54% decline in volume, 57% decline in turnover, and 39% decline in deals. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 35.8 trillion.

In the aggregate, 115 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 38 gainers and 34 losers. Transcorp Hotels led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 39.50 per share, followed by FTN Cocoa Processors (+10%), Chellarams (+10%) and Omatek Ventures (+10%).

 On the losing side, Consolidated Hallmark Insurance came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 10% at NGN 1.17 per share, followed by Champion Breweries (-9.89%), McNichols (-9.33%) and PZ Cussons Nigeria (-9.32%). Chams recorded the highest volume of 91.7 million traded shares, followed by FCMB Group (78.7m), Universal Insurance Company (75m) and United Bank for Africa (55.1m).

Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) increased by 1,065.60 (1.65%) points to close at 65,669.29, representing a 1-week gain of 8.16%, a 4-week gain of 17.36%, and an overall year-to-date gain of 28.13%.

Other remarkable indices that performed were the NGX Top 30 Index (+1.96%; +9.37% 1WK; +30.06% YTD), NGX Top 50 Index (+1.48%; +11.47% 1WK; +46.18% YTD), NGX Industrial Index (+7.48%; +20.59% 1WK; +19.74% YTD), NGX Premium Index (+2.39%; +11.25% 1WK; +48.02% YTD), NGX Main Board Index (+1.05%; +5.76% 1WK; +20.36% YTD), and NGX Pension Index (+0.89%; +8.24% 1WK; +55.18% YTD).
