Equities Market continues on bullish run as NGXC-ASI appreciates by 0.25%
Nigeria’s Equities Market closed positive on Wednesday by 0.25% as the NGX-ASI increased to 71,014.34 from 70,840.72 recorded at the close of the previous trading day; indicating a YTD return of +38.56%.
Market capitalization increased by N93.48 billion to N39.05 trillion from N38.96 trillion recorded at the close of the previous trading day, while the market turnover increased to N6.16 billion from N3.37 billion.
At the end of today’s trading session, a total of 297,353,588 shares in 6,172 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 6,161,111,762.29, were traded.
Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Tuesday, November 14), today’s data shows 9% decline in volume, 83% improvement in turnover, but 6% decline in deals. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 39 trillion.
In the aggregate, 121 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 39 gainers and 19 losers. Oando led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 11.55 per share, followed by Omatek Ventures (+10%), MeCure Industries (+9.92%) and C&I Leasing (+9.87%).
On the losing side, SCOA Nigeria came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 9.68% at NGN 1.12 per share, followed by Sovereign Trust Insurance (-8.82%), Cornerstone Insurance Company (-4.83%) and Cadbury Nigeria (-4.17%). Oando recorded the highest volume of 28 million traded shares, followed by Aiico Insurance (23m), Japaul Gold and Ventures (20.4m) and Transcorp Nigeria (14.5m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) climbed 173.62 (0.25%) points to close at 71,014.34, representing a 1-week gain of 0.34%, a 4-week gain of 5.44%, and an overall year-to-date gain of 38.56%.
Other remarkable indices that performed were the NGX Top 30 Index (+0.17%; +0.15% 1WK; +41.43% YTD), NGX Top 50 Index (+0.12%; +0.86% 1WK; +45.88% YTD), NGX Industrial Index (+0.81%; -1.16% 1WK; +17.15% YTD), NGX Main Board Index (+0.45%; -0.07% 1WK; +43.8% YTD), NGX Pension Index (+0.24%; +0.31% 1WK; +68.63% YTD), and NGX Consumer Goods Index (+0.13%; -0.06% 1WK; +95.23% YTD).
