Equities Market gains N5.95bn as NGX-ASI appreciates marginally by 0.02%;
Nigeria’s Equities Market closed positively, on Thursday gaining 10.82 basis points with a negative market breadth.
The NGX All-Share Index advanced by 0.02%, closing at 71,025.16 basis points, compared to the previous day’s gain of 0.25%, which closed at 71,014.34 basis points. The NGX Market CAP also recorded an increase of N5.95bn in Naira terms.
At the end of today’s trading session , a total of 483,847,757 shares in 6,545 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 4,378,933,034.31, were traded. Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Wednesday, November 15), today’s data shows 63% improvement in volume, 29% decline in turnover, but 6% improvement in deals. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 39 trillion.
In the aggregate, 123 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 23 gainers and 32 losers. Deap Capital Management & Trust led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 0.44 per share, followed by Secure Electronic Technology (+10%), C&I Leasing (+9.95%) and Northern Nigeria Flour Mills (+9.85%). On the losing side, Associated Bus Company came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 10% at NGN 0.90 per share, followed by E-Tranzact International (-9.93%), Thomas Wyatt Nigeria (-8.95%) and Guinea Insurance (-8.33%). Regency Alliance Insurance recorded the highest volume of 104 million traded shares, followed by Oando (55.3m), Universal Insurance Company (53.4m) and Japaul Gold and Ventures (24.9m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) inched up 10.82 (0.02%) points to close at 71,025.16, representing a 1-week gain of 0.29%, a 4-week gain of 5.85%, and an overall year-to-date gain of 38.58%. Other remarkable indices that performed were the NGX Top 50 Index (+0.07%; +0.65% 1WK; +45.98% YTD), NGX Top 30 Index (+0.02%; +0.08% 1WK; +41.46% YTD), NGX Consumer Goods Index (+0.31%; +0.32% 1WK; +95.84% YTD), NGX Insurance Index (+0.17%; -0.52% 1WK; +66.12% YTD), NGX Pension Index (+0.12%; +0.35% 1WK; +68.83% YTD), and NGX Main Board Index (+0.03%; -0.07% 1WK; +43.84% YTD).
