Equity investors gain N216.83bn as NGXASI appreciates by 0. 37 %
Nigeria’s equities market closed positive on Thursday, as the NGX-ASI increased to 96,924.86 from 96,567.24 recorded at the close of the previous trading day, indicating a YTD return of +29.62%.
Market capitalization increased by N216.83 billion to 58.731.83 trillion from 58.514 trillion recorded at the close of the previous trading day. Also, The market turnover increased to N16.477 billion from N10.041 billion.
At the end of today’s trading session , a total of 628,362,034 shares in 9,696 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 16,245,390,337.41, were traded. Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Wednesday, November 6), today’s data shows 50% improvement in volume, 62% improvement in turnover, and 7% improvement in deals. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 58.7 trillion.
In the aggregate, 124 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 32 gainers and 17 losers. Aradel Holdings led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 441.20 per share, followed by Conoil (+10%), Eunisell Interlinked (+9.92%) and John Holt (+9.77%).
On the losing side, Tantalizers came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 6.25% at NGN 0.60 per share, followed by Nigerian Exchange Group (-5.81%), Wema Bank (-5.63%) and RT Briscoe (-4.46%). Japaul Gold and Ventures recorded the highest volume of 106 million traded shares, followed by Ellah Lakes (92m), FBN Holdings (70.6m) and Oando (57.2m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) climbed 357.62 (0.37%) points to close at 96,924.86, representing a 1-week loss of 0.74%, a 4-week loss of 0.57%, but an overall year-to-date gain of 29.62%.
