FAAN begins installation of check-in, screening equipment at Abuja, Lagos airports
Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has commenced installation of check-in and screening equipment at both the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) Abuja.
A statement by the General Manager, Corporate Affairs, FAAN, Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu, said the installation is ‘in a bid to address recent challenges in airport operations and facilitation management systems at the two airports.’
FAAN further disclosed that additional 15 security screening machines have been procured for immediate deployment to the General Aviation Terminal (GAT) and the international wing of the Lagos airport and that ‘they have also been installed already.’
It, however, appealed to airlines, passengers and other stakeholders to ‘bear with the agency while the installation lasts, as FAAN is working assiduously to ensure speedy completion of the project.’
FAAN, Yakubu added, is ‘committed to her core values of providing safety, security and comfort for airport users.’
Federal Government, through the Ministry of Aviation has already opened official biding for the Lagos and Abuja international airports, along with the Port Harcourt and Kano facilities for concession.
