Federal College of Education in Ebonyi to commence academic activities October

Newly-established Federal College of Education (Technical), Isu, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State will commence academic activities in October this year.
Provost of the College, Prof. Reuben Okechukwu disclosed this when he led the Management team of the college on a courtesy visit to Governor David Nweze Umahi at the Government House , Abakaliki.
Prof Okechukwu said the management would deploy high sense of responsibility anchored on discipline and integrity in line with their mandate in the management of the College.
“We are mere missionaries and agents of education industry whose duty is to develop and deliver access and quality education to our children and youths that will take over the nation tomorrow,” the Provost said.
He disclosed that the College was face with huge challenges, and solicited the support of the State government to grow and develop the college so as to make it the best centre for teacher’s education in Nigeria.
He applauded what he described as Governor Umahi’s giant strides in education and assured that Ebonyi would always benefit as the first catchment area of the college.
Responding, Governor Umahi who was represented by the Deputy Governor Dr Kelechi Igwe called on the Federal Government to take urgent and necessary steps for immediate and effective take off of the college, considering its importance to the manpower development of the State and Nation at large.
He said Federal Government should also make adequate budgetary provisions for the college, assuring that the State Government would always give full support to the growth and development of the college.
“Ours as government is to complement and give a facelift to what has been brought to the land of Ebonyi to march with the level of infrastructural development we have put in place as a pace setting standard in the state.”
The Governor further urged the management of the college to ensure that Ebonyi indigenes get their due share in terms of admission of students and recruitment of Academic and Non-academic staff as well as build social relationship with their host Community.
The new Federal College of Education is located at Isu, Onicha LGA of Ebonyi State.
