FG commends SPE on hosting Women Leadership Programme at NAICE

Federal government has commended the Nigerian Council of Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) on promoting inclusivity and leadership development in the industry by creating special workshop on women leadership in the ongoing Nigerian Annual International Conference and Exhibition (NAICE).
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Ambassador Nicholas Agbo Ella, declared in his speech at the event holding at Eko Hotels in Lagos that the Women Leadership Programme featured in the conference is a positive aligns with government’s goals of integrating all shades of input in developing the industry.
The Oracle Today reports that inclusion, gender equity and balance in industry leadership positions form the core advocacy of the Women in Energy Network (WIEN) whose members are lined as speakers at the SPE NAICE 2024.
Six eminent members of WIEN are lined up share their expertise and insights on different panels of policy debate at NAICE which has grown across years to become one of the largest upstream petroleum industry events in Africa.
The annual conference attracts industry regulators, high-level government officials, petroleum technology professionals and other key oil and gas industry stakeholders.
Co-Founder and Deputy Managing Director of Falcon Corporation, Audrey Joe-Ezigbo, is billed to feature on the panel discussions.
Audrey who is also a founding member of WIEN leads other prominent members, including the Managing Director of Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCO), Elohor Aiboni; Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Contego Servo Limited, Nnoli Akpedeye; and Managing Director at Energy Institute Nigeria, Yewande Abiose.
Other members of WIEN featuring at the event include the Acting Managing Director and Gas Asset Manager at Neconde Energy Limited, Engr. Chichi Emenike; and President of Women’s Network In Shell and Head of Asset Management at Shell Petroleum Develoment Company (SPDC) Limited, Ngozi Adeleke.
WIEN also features as exhibitor at the SPE NAICE 2024 where the Executive Secretary, Engr Asanimo Omezi, coordinates the show pariticipation, attends to aspiring and existing members and also propels the gender equity advocacy of the group to the public.

In commending the line up of WIEN members slated for the industry panels and workshops at NAICE, Ambassador Ella noted that the Women Leadership Programme combines with the Young Professionals’ Workshop to fill NAICE 2024 with complete experience pool required for the industry to thrive.
“The Young Professionals’ Workshop and the Women Leadership Programme, highlighted at this conference, are commendable initiatives that align with our goals of inclusivity and leadership development. It is essential to equip our young professionals and female leaders with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to thrive in the evolving petroleum landscape,” Ambassador Ella stated.
He also called for collaboration between industry, academia, and government as crucial for achieving collective objectives and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
“I encourage all participants to engage actively in the discussions, share insights, and explore opportunities for collaboration,” he advised.
“Let us work together to unlock the full potential of our midstream and downstream sectors and drive the sustainable development of our petroleum industry,” stated the Perm Sec.
