FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup: Again, Japan battle Spain in final, Sunday
Final of the ongoing FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica will see a repeat of the 2018’s edition as Japan battle Spain for the trophy.
This will be the second time that Spain and Japan clash for the title in the U20 FIFA Women’s World Cup final.
The match will be played late Sunday night, August 28, 2022 at the Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica.
In the 2018 edition, Japan women beat their Spanish counterparts by 3-1 to lift the trophy.
To reach the final, champions Japan beat a strong Brazil 2-1, while the Spain eliminated The Netherlands by 2-1 to Spain, on Thursday.
The Netherlands had defeated Nigeria’s Falconets 2-0 after two first half goals to reach a first ever semi-finals in the competition.
However, during Thursday’s last four clash, Netherlands found themselves 2-0 down in the first half following a brace from Spain’s Inma Gabarro on 22 and 25 minutes.
Rosa van Gool pulled a goal back for The Netherlands in the 54th minute but Spain held on to qualify for the final.
