Four days to February 25 poll, NNPP loses Reps candidate for Kano
Barely four days to the Presidential, Senatorial and House of Representatives poll on February 25, across the country, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has lost its candidate in Wudil/Garko Federal Constituency in Kano State, Alhaji Kamilu Ado Isa to death.
Isa was the NNPC’s candidate in the House of Representatives for the Wudil/Garko Federal Constituency seat in the elections, this slated for this Saturday.
Kano State is also a stronghold of the NNPP, as the late candidate was likely to win at the polls.
The late Isa, a former Assistant Comptroller General of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), died after a brief illness, last Monday, February 20.
In a condolence message to his family, the presidential candidate of the NNPP, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso described his demise as ‘shocking and a huge vacuum that cannot be replaced.’
He said the candidate dedicated his time, wealth and energy to the success of the party and his immediate community, praying for God Almighty to forgive his shortcomings.
“I am saddened by the loss of Hon. Kamilu Ado Isah, the NNPP House of Representatives Candidate for Wudil/Garko constituency.
“May the Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal peace. My condolence to his family, friends and the NNPP Kano Chapter,” he said.
The deceased has since been buried in Kano according to Islam rites.
Till date, a total of seven political parties candidates have died from motor accidents or illness after securing their tickets at the primary poll, with most of the deaths recorded this 2023.
The list includes; Alhaji Aliyu Maina, the NRM governorship candidate in Adamawa state; PDP governorship candidate in Abia State, Uchenna Ikonne; the Labour Party (LP) candidate for Imo House of Assembly, Chukwunonye Irouno; another Imo House of Assembly candidate for the LP in Onuimo Local Government Area, Christopher Elehu;
Others are; Barrister Abba Bello Haliru, the PDP candidate for Birnin Kebbi/Kalgo/Bunza Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives in Kebbi State; Mathew Akawu, the PDP House of Assembly candidate for Bassa in Plateau; and Ejikeme Omeje, the APC House of Reps candidate for Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Federal Constituency in Enugu State.
