FRSC mourns accident victims in Cross River

The Cross River State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has joined the world to remember all those killed and injured in road traffic accidents across the state.
This is part of activities to mark the world day for the remembrance of road traffic victims.
The one week programme of events slated for November 13 to November 19, 2023 is aimed at creating awareness on ways to prevent road traffic crashes and encourage motorists to always drive responsibly.
Speaking on the this year’s event, the Sector Commander Corps Commander Istifanus Andesaba Ibrahim stated that “The World day of remembrance for road traffic victims, is a day adopted and recognized by the UN to remember all persons killed and seriously injured on the roads through road traffic crashes.
“The annual global event is organized to recognize and pay respect to all those who died as well as those with serious injuries as a result of road traffic crashes and the period is to educate the motoring public on the need to imbibe safe driving practices”, he said.
The Sector Commander RS6.2 further called on stakeholders to join hands with the Corps in enhancing effective advocacy campaigns geared towards ensuring drastic crash reduction and fatality rate on our roads.
As part of this year’s event, a Public lecture, wreath laying and Hospital visitation in addition to Jummat and Church services have been taking place.
The hospital visitation by the Road Safety Officers Wives Association (ROSOWA) took place at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital and was led by Mrs Angela Egbe the coordinator of ROSOWA Cross River Sector Command.
Foods items and other essential commodities where distributed to accident victims at the accident and emergency ward of the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital.
The ROSAWA coordinator advised road users to always prioritize their safety and remember that their lives are precious.
ROSAWA also donated bags of toiletries to accident victims at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital as part of their visitation.
