Gbajabiamila resigns as House of Reps member
Former Speaker of House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has resigned from the green chamber to take up his role as Chief of Staff to the president.
His letter of resignation was presented on the floor of the House Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas. Who read Gbajabiamila’s letter of resignation during plenary on Wednesday.
The president had appointed Gbajabiamila to the position on June 2.
He served as Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2019 to 2023.
Gbajabiamila spent 20 years in the lower chamber and was re-elected to represent Surulere 1 federal constituency in the 2023 general election.
He was first elected to the House Of Representatives in 2003 and had won five straight elections before now.
