Gov. El- Rufai calls for calm over killing of pastor by bandits in Kaduna

While confirming the killing of Christian cleric by bandits, Sunday, the Kaduna Governor, Nasir el-Rufai has called for calm among residents of the state, assuring that security agencies are already conducting investigations into the killing.

Suspected bandits reportedly killed Rev. Silas Ali of the Evangelical Church Winning All, in the Zango-Kataf local government area of Kaduna state on Saturday.

Reacting to the killing, through his Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, Sunday, Governor el-Rufai condoled with the family of the deceased cleric, even as he expressed shock over the incident.

“Security agencies have reported to the Kaduna State Government the killing of the pastor of ECWA Church, Kibori-Asha Awuce, in Zangon Kataf LGA, by assailants,” said Aruwan.

Aruwan, in the statement, said Governor el-Rufai was ‘pained by the attack,’ even as he further confirmed that the late cleric’s corpse was found by a search party in the early hours of Sunday, September 12.

The commissioner quoted the governor to have charged security operatives to intensify efforts at apprehending the perpetrators of the act.

The Governor expressed deep sadness over the killing. He offered prayers for the repose of the soul of the cleric.
