Gov Nwifuru assures of implementation of gender base law in Ebonyi

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has assured that the State will remain committed to the implementation of the Gender Base Violence Law.
This, the Governor said, would help to protect the rights of women and children in line with the global practices.
He gave the assurance when he declared open stakeholders meeting on investment case for Ebonyi State organized by Ebonyi State Ministry of Budget, Research and Monitoring in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Abakaliki.
“The programme is very important and if fully implemented will develop the State especially health sector, save lives and bring investments to the State”
“I am happy to be part of those who championed the legislation on Gender Base Violence in 2017, even though there were a lot of controversies, but after all necessary legislative procedures, the law was passed because of its importance to the development of the state. “
The Governor appreciated the office of the wife of the Governor for carrying out vigorous campaign against female genital mutilation and other obnoxious practices against women and Children in the state.
The Commissioner for Budget, Research and Monitoring, Mrs Chinwe Okah, urged stakeholders to think critically in their contributions to make investment case a reality.
“As a matter of fact, this will be the first time this type of programme will be holding in the sub National and Ebonyi is taking the lead.”
Mrs Okah commended UNFPA and Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for their support for the success of the programme.
