Gov Otu to build legacy rail project in C’River

Cross River State governor Senator Bassey Otu has promised to build a Legacy Rail Project that will link the southern and northern part of the state up to the Obudu Ranch Resort.
Governor Otu made the promise in Calabar during the inaugural International Cooperation and Investment Summit (ICIS) in Calabar.
The governor said details of the project will be made known in a later date, adding that the rail project will be his legacy project for the state.
He described the ICIS as a well thought out initiative by his administration to enhance economic growth
He invited the investors to also take advantage of the Calabar Carnival saying his administration hopes to divest from it.
He added that the state is investors friendly, and has comparative advantage over other states.
In his opening remarks, Victor Edet, the coordinator of the ICIS said multinational organisations with a combined value of over $50 billion are participating in the summit.
He added that they hoped to strike deals that will bring enormous value to the state.
One of the participating organisations, 9Mobile offered to build a Data center in the state.
Juergen Peschel, its Chief Executive Officer said the centre will be on a Build- Operate-and-Transfer Model and help in digitalizing government and improve the security architecture in the state.
Other participating organisations include Access Holdings, Africa Development Bank, Fhi360 Nigeria, International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, Interswitch among others.
The ICIS has as theme “Paradigm Shift” and it’s mandate is to help broaden horizons and broker new cooperation focused on high returns and long term investment.
