In his first act as Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo has announced the immediate suspension of all revenue collections in the state for one month.
This is also the new governor outlawed all cash payments to Anambra Government in motor parks, roads or anywhere in the state.
Prof Soludo and Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim were formally sworn in as governor and deputy governor, respectively, by Justice Onochie Anyachebelu, the Chief Judge of the state, during a Thursday morning ceremony at the Government House in Akwa.
In his address, Soludo said the new Anambra under his leadership would be a state of law and order, as he thanked the outgone governor, Chief Willie Obiano and the leadership of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for their immense support.
He emphasised the need for peace and called on youths, politicians and agitators to embrace dialogue as that was the only panacea for peace.
He thanked the people of Anambra for interviewing him and employing him to serve them as governor.
There was momentary disruption of ceremony due to a physical fight between immediate past First Lady, Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano, and Mrs Bianca Ojukwu the widow of Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu, Military Governor of the defunct Eastern Region and former leader of APGA in the Anambra State.
