A group, Effium Development Union, has called on the Member Representing Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency, Hon Eze Nwachukwu Eze, to support peace initiative for Effium community in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

The people of the war-torn Effium community have expressed concern over the lack of interest in the peace initiative for the community by Hon. Eze Nwachukwu Eze.

In a press statement issued from EzzaUkwu refugee camp by the town union and signed by the Chairman, Chief Chukwu Nwefuru; and the secretary, Mr. Onwudiwe Olo, on Friday, Effium Community Development Union expressed worries that Hon. Eze Nwachukwu entirely excluded Effium Community which has been embroiled in communal war from communities deserving federal government intervention and relief materials in his constituency.

Effium Community Development Union reminded Hon Eze Nwachukwu that over 30,000 children in Effium Community which shares borders within his Ngbo community in Ebonyi State had not had access to education, healthcare and good life since 2021 due to the communal war.

The town union charged Hon. Nwachukwu to support the peace initiatives for Effium community which is in his constituency by prevailing on his community to stop giving access to guerrilla warriors who allegedly attack refugee camps in Effium Community.

They appealed to the federal legislator to attract relief materials to the internally displaced persons in Effium Community and support other interventions for the benefit of the people of Effium community.

Effium communal war which began in January 2021 has claimed thousands of lives of children, women and men as well as property valued at billions of naira.
