Gunmen attack Reps convoy in Anambra, kill driver

Gunmen on Thursday attacked the convoy of the member representing Nnewi North/South and Ekwusigo Constituency at the House of Representatives, Honorable Chris Azubogu.
One of the drivers of Mr Azubogu’s convoy was reportedly killed by the gunmen.
The attack took place along Nnewi-Nnobi road in front of the St Paul Anglican Church, Nnobi, in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The federal lawmaker was said to be going to Awka around 3pm when the incident happened.
An Eyewitness said the driver of the vehicle with plate number, Abuja ABC 307 CM was reportedly shot dead instantly by the gunmen, while the black car on which Hon Azubogu was inside had several gun shots.
Azubogu, according to the source, was said to have been abducted after several gun shots refused to penetrate his body.
His police orderly was said to have escaped unhurt.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu, could not be reached immediately for comment.
