The founder of the Comrade Effanga Ita Scholarship Foundation, Effanga Ita says the Cross River State library became a dwelling place for rats and snakes under the watchful eyes of two professors.

The two professors are the immediate past governor and deputy governor of the state.

Comrade Ita made this known in the keynote address he presented during the third foundation bday of the foundation.

He deplored the state of youths and the educational situation in the country saying this will continue until conscious steps are taken to provide for the future of the youths.

According to him, “The morality in our society have degraded to the extent that young men and women are selected into a secluded place called ‘the house’ with the sole purpose of promoting nudity/sexual immorality.

“Cultism, kidnapping and armed robbery is the order of the day, Bet Naija has become a major craftsmanship/handiwork for our youth.

‘”Here in Cross River State, our State library under the watchful eyes of two professors became a dwelling place for rats, snakes and cockroaches.

“The effects of these in our society is that we cannot sleep with our two eyes closed.

“This situation will continue except we all take conscious steps to provide for the future of our youths”, he said.

This year’s foundation day had as theme “Reclaiming the future of our youths through quality education” and featured the presentation of scholarship to over 200 less privileged children and youths.

Besides, books were presented to over 500 participants as well as presentation of papers by renowned scholars.
