How public speaking, media management drives revenue – Expert

Dr. Judex Okoro, a scholar and media expert in the University of Calabar says public speaking and media management can play a key role in driving revenue in an organization.
Dr. Okoro made this disclosure while speaking as a resource person during a one day masterclass training workshop on media protocol, public speaking and personal finance management.
The workshop was organized by the Cross River State government in partnership with the Cross River Internal Revenue Service, CRIRS for selected public offices in the service and some sister agencies.
Delivering a paper on Public Speaking and Media Management, Dr. Okoro said “by developing effective public speaking skills, Revenue Officers can enhance their professional image, build trust with stakeholders, and improve communication.
“Media management is essential for organisations to effectively communicate with their audiences, build their brand, and achieve their goals.
“Public speaking and media management can have a significant impact on driving revenue. It can also increase credibility, improve brand visibility; lead generation, revenue growth.
“Therefore, combining public speaking and media management can ultimately drive revenue growth”, he said.
In another presentation, a Professor of Finance from the University of Calabar, Ame Offiong, said budgeting is an essential practice to stay afloat in a challenging time.
Professor Offiong who spoke as a resource person also advocated a strict savings culture by individuals and organisations.
She postulated that savings is a form of deferred consumption and is an essential part of personal finance and helps in achieving financial stability and success.
Bassey Koffereh, a retired permanent secretary and State Chief of Protocol, a third resource person also spoke extensively on the order of protocol in state events and etiquette for public officers.
He stressed on the need for staff of the service to be conversant about basic etiquette as they are the image makers of any organisation and their conduct can make or mar public perception of the organization.
Convener of the workshop and Chairman of the Cross River Internal Revenue Service, Edwin Okon said the workshop is designed to empower staff with knowledge so as to get a better output from them.
He added that it aligns with the vision of the governor to equip workers with appropriate knowledge in order to guarantee quality service delivery
