‘I dumped APC because Buhari is now sharing power with ISWAP terrorists, bandits’– Ex-Sports minister, Dalung
Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, has explained his reason for withdrawing his membership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), saying President Muhammadu Buhari now shares political power with Islamic State for West African Province (ISWAP) terrorist group, as well as, bandits’ leader, Bello Turji.
According to Dalung, who disclosed this via his Facebook page, the President has failed to tackle insecurity across the country as promised Nigerians prior to his election.
It would be recalled that the outspoken Dalung, who served as Minister of Sports in Buhari’s first tenure, and has remained a strong critic of his government over rising insecurity in the country, officially resigned his membership of the ruling party, last Monday.
Citing ‘recent developments in the party does not tally with his principles,’as reason for his decision, Dalung submitted a letter of his withdrawal from the party to the Ward Chairman of APC in SabonGida Ward, Langtang South local government area of Plateau State.
The letter which was dated April 1, 2022, and signed by Dalung on April 18, 2022, was made available to newsmen in Jos on Tuesday.
“This is to convey my withdrawal of membership from the All Progressives Congress with effect from the date of this notice.
“It is worthy of mention that recent developments in the party conflict with my core principles of values which define the basis of allegiance to the party.
“Of note is the fact that internal democracy is critical to the survival of representative democracy without which political participation remains a mirage,” the letter read in part.
Dalung recently slammed Buhari ‘for failing Nigerians and disappointing many, including him with his inability to tackle growing the insecurity in the country.’
