I will make Abia one of the best states in Nigeria – Ogah
From BONIFACE OKORO, Umuahia
Immediate past Minister of State for Steel and Mines Development, Dr, Uche Sampson Uchechukwu Ogah, has assured he would make Abia one of the best in the comity of states in the country if Abians elect him as their governor in 2023.
Ogah gave the assurance in Umuahia on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at his campaign office in Umuahia while interacting with a cross section of journalists after a reception by members of the Abia State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) who thronged the campaign office to receive him upon his return from Abuja where a Federal High Court sitting at the Federal Capital Territory had declared him the Governorship Candidate of the party in Abia.
The Federal High Court presided over by Justice Binta Nyako, had on Friday, November 11, 2022, declared Ogah, who had approached the court to challenge High Chief Ikechi Emenike’s candidature, the duly nominated governorship candidate of Abia APC.
The court verdict invalidated the candidacy of High Chief Ikechi Emenike hitherto recognised by the APC National Working Committee and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which had published Emenike’s name as governorship candidate of Abia APC.
The Emenike camp has maintained that the status quo remains until the Suprem Court has adjudicated on the matter. But Ogah who returned to Abia, enroute Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri, where he was received by a crowd of party faithful and supporters, told them that no one could overturn his court victory.
The industrial icon said with him, APC was coming with better plans to develop the state.
“APC is bringing a better benefit, bringing people-oriented programmes that will change the lives of the people that can ensure Abians have a new lease of life that can bring succour to many Abians that are downtrodden.
“So many have lost hope but God has restored their hope through the court. The reception today shows that the people want change; the people love the candidate, they want to feel the candidate; the people know the capacity the candidate possesses which is what he wants to bring to bear in governing Abia State so that Abia can be one of the best in the comity of states in Nigeria,” Ogah said.
Addressing the crowd at his campaign office earlier, he encouraged his supporters and APC faithful to go to the rural areas as apostles of the party, to convince others to join the party’s positive steps geared towards giving Abia its pride of place in 2023.
Also answering questions from Newsmen, a former member federal lawmaker who was also a former Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Stanley Ohujuruka, described Ogah as a man with the needed capacity to steer the ship of Abia to the Promised Land.
“This man who has so much capacity and pedigree, he has everything to make Abia to be like other states,” Ohajuruka said, adding that with the emergence of Ogah as the Abia APC Governorship Candidate, “Abia is tilting towards a new dawn in the political management of the state because God has given us a young man who has all it takes to take us to path of development.”
At the Sam Mbakwe airport, Ogah told supporters and party faithful who thronged the airport to receive him that his victory at the Federal High Court Abuja last week Friday was the will of God which no one can change and expressed his gratitude to all well-meaning Abians for their prayers and support.
With the new turn of events, Ogah encouraged eligible voters to support his guber ambition to enable Abia to witness better governance and leadership administration in 2023, hinting that he has a robust blueprint on how to move the state forward.
“I am thinking out of the box, how to change the narrative in Abia State and I promise to develop Abia within one year when I take over as governor because I have the capacity, competence, credibility and all the connectivity to bring all that it takes to set Abia forward,” Ogah added.
He insisted that Abia APC remains one united family that will work assiduously and harmoniously, in order to successfully take over the mantle of leadership of the state for the benefit of Abians and to the admiration of lovers of good leadership and development.
Ogah assured that all the tactical committees and campaign council for his statewide campaigns and election would be put in place within one week, saying that “there will be no delays in soliciting for the support of Abia electorate to enable me to win in 2023.”
Spokesman of Dr Uche Ogah campaign outfit, Sir Joshua Nnanyere Ogbonna, while speaking with newsmen, described the victory of his principal at the law court as timely, maintaining that Judiciary remains the last hope of the common man.
Sir Ogbonna further dedicated the court ruling to all Abians who believe in Ogah’s political capacity, adding that Dr. Ogah has all it takes to liberate the state from its current situation.
Speaking also on Ogah’s court victory, the APC State Publicity Secretary, Chief Offor Okorie, said that “Ogah is a God sent and he is coming to transform Abia and make it a better place for Abians.”
Okorie, who strongly believed that Ogah’s mission in Abia was divine, said that “no force on earth can stop him,” as he was the only one that would make Abia State the best state in Nigeria.
Chief Okorie passionately appealed to the entire Abians to campaign and vote for Ogah in the governorship election, promising that the former Minister would use his experience and knowledge to take Abia State to the next level.
The member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency, Chief Sam Onuigbo, the Director General of Abia Rejoice Movement, Hon Solomon Okogbuo, and Chief Ralph Ukoro, a former Council Chairman of Isuikwuato local government area, among other party chieftains, were present.
