Ibadan airport jet crash: Preliminary report will be released soon – NSIB, confirms no fatality
Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) says there was no fatality in an accident involving a private conveying 10 passengers, including the country’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, Friday night.
NSIB, which said it has already commenced investigation into the cause of the accident, added that the preliminary report will be released ‘as soon as possible.’
Late Friday night, a private jet operated by Flint Aero crash-landed at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport. One of the passengers aboard the jet, the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, escaped unhurt in the incident.
Meanwhile, reacting to the crash, Saturday, the NSIB, in a statement issued by the Public Affairs and Consumer Protection Director of the Agency, Mr James Odaudu said that “their investigators are on site, and further information will be provided as soon as possible.”
“The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has been notified and commenced investigation into an accident involving an HS 125 aircraft with Nationality and Registration Marks 5N-AMM belonging to Flint Aero, which occurred at about 08:21 pm (Local Time) on 3rd November 2023,” NSIB said.
The aircraft had departed Abuja for Ibadan as its destination, but it landed about 50 metres short of the threshold and skidded into a ditch close to the runway.
The aircraft crash-landed into the bush during an effort to land at about 10 pm close to the airport runway in Ibadan.
Meanwhile, the bureau has disclosed that a preliminary report on the accident will be released soon.

“As the investigating agency, NSIB needs and hereby solicits your assistance. We want the public to know that we would be amenable to receiving any video clip, relevant evidence, or information any members of the public may have of the accident; that can assist us with this investigation.
“Also the Bureau will appreciate that the general public and press respect the privacy of the people involved and not assume the cause of the serious incident until formal report is released.”
The NSIB added that the aircraft, with 10 passengers and 3 crew members onboard was en route from Abuja to Ibadan, Oyo state capital and all passengers and crew were safely evacuated.
