Abia State government has said that it was poised to complete all the on-going road projects and resuscitate moribund factories in Abia State.
The State governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, gave the assurance Monday while inaugurating a six-man Work and Project Evaluation Committee charged with the responsibility of monitoring and evaluating on – going road projects in the State.
Inaugurating the Committee at Government House, Umuahia, the Governor, represented by by his Deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, urged the Committee which has a three-week deadline to inspect and monitor all on-going projects and moribund factories in the State and report its findings and recommendations to government .
The governor emphasized the need for the Committee to pay special attention to nine ongoing road projects, namely Ururuka, Aba Road in Umuahia, Etitiama-Nkporo, Porthacourt Road, Obikabia, Aba-Owerri Road, Osusu and Eziukwu Road as well as Shoe factory in Aba.
Responding, the chairman of the committee who is also the Commissioner for Works, Chief Eziuche Ubani, assured that the Committee would do its best to efficiently carry out it’s assignment by identify what was left in completing the on-going roads in the State, maintaining that, that the committee’s work would assist government to hasten the completion of the projects and start new ones.
Ubani said the Committee would equally advise government on how to establish a pillot shoe factory in Aba which private individuals would copy, to better the Abia economy.
Other members of the committee include Mr. Obinna Oriaku, Dr. Aham Uko, Sir Emma Nwabuko and Mr. Chinenye Nwogu, while the Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, would serve as Secretary.
