Ikpeazu signs 2022 Abia Appropriation Bill into law, tasks agencies on implementation

Abia Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has promised to relentlessly implement the 2022 budget for the peace, order and welfare of the people of the state.
Ikpeazu made the promise while signing into law the Abia State 2022 Appropriation Bill at his Aba Lodge, Friday.
The State House of Assembly had, Thursday, December 30, 2021, passed the 2022 Appropriation bill into law.
The 2022 budget out lay, as passed by the House, shows that Abia would spend N147, 282, 196, 200 for its services in the 2022 fiscal year. The Appropriation Law indicates that the House of Assembly reviewed downwards by N505, 585, 100, the budget outlay of N147, 787, 781, 300 the Governor presented to the lawmakers on December 14, 2021.
The Budget has a Capital Expenditure Profile of N79, 779, 887, 500; while Recurrent Expenditure has an outlay of N67, 502, 318, 700.
While assenting to the Appropriation Law, Ikpeazu tasked agencies of government with specific obligations in the budget to take their assignments very seriously.
“In particular, he challenged revenue earning agencies in the State to redouble their efforts and carry out their jobs with greater transparency and a deeper sense of patriotism,” Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Onyebuchi Ememanka, revealed in a statement he released Friday.
The Governor expressed his gratitude to the Speaker and members of the State House of Assembly for their display of patriotism in the expeditious review and passage of the Appropriation Bill.
With this, Abia State has sustained the January to December Budget cycle as the 2022 Budget becomes effective from January 1, 2022.
