Illegal extradition: Kanu discontinues N20bn suit against AGF, NIA
Leader of the pro-secession group in the South East region of the country, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has formally instructed his legal team to discontinue the N20 billion suit filed at the Federal High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) sitting in Abuja, against the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami SAN, and Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Abubakar.
Making the disclosure, via his Twitter page, Thursday, a member of Kanu’s legal team, Barr. Aloy Ejimakor, however, did not explain the rationale for the discontinuation of the lawsuit at the court barely 24 hours before a scheduled hearing, fixed for this Friday.
It would be recalled that Justice Inyang Ekwo had fixed November 18 for the hearing in the suit which had both Malami and Abubakar, as a defendants.
Providing an update, Thursday, Ejimakor, disclosed that the case has been discontinued.
“UPDATE on #MNK outstanding cases in which I’m directly involved:
“The United Kingdom case is awaiting the decision. Federal High Court case for Nov 18 is discontinued.
“The AU (African Union) case is awaiting the decision.
“United Nations Opinion has been escalated to other tribunals.
“The Kenyan case is set for Feb 2023 (sad),” read the tweet.
