‘I’m in deep mourning,’ says Jonathan, escapes death, loses two security aides in road accident
Former President, Goodluck Jonathan, Wednesday, escaped death as his convoy was involved in a ghastly motor accident in n Abuja, which left two security attached to the former President dead.
Providing more detail into the accident, ex-President Jonathan said he was returning from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja to his home when the accident occurred as two other security detail are presently receiving treatment at a hospital.
A statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ikechukwu Eze, said the former president is presently mourning the two police officers who lost their lives, describing the accident as ‘painful and heart-rending.’
Jonathan disclosed that two other officers who also sustained injuries are responding to treatments at the hospital.
He described the deceased; Inspector Abraham Abazi and Yakubu Toma, as ‘fine officers, who were dedicated to their duties and service to the nation.’
“Two other officers sustained injuries in the accident which involved a car conveying the security men.
“They were rushed to a hospital in Abuja where they’re responding to treatments.
“Jonathan has dispatched his condolences to the families of the bereaved and the police high command.
“The former President prayed to God to grant the souls of the departed eternal rest and bless their families and the nation with the fortitude to bear the loss,” the statement read.
