In all we are doing, our target is job creation – Otti
…Thanks Abians for electing him one year ago
…Says problems he inherited will not overwhelm him
From Boniface Okoro, Umuahia
Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has declared that all developmental efforts by his administration were targeted at creating job opportunities in the state.
A calm and happy Otti who spoke Monday night during the March 2024 edition of his Monthly Media Chat tagged “Otti Speaks to Abians,” recalled that it was same day in 2023 that Abians trooped to the polls to elect him as their chief servant and effusively thanked them for their kind gesture, vowing not to disappoint them.
“Today is a special day because it marks exactly one year after our brothers and sisters in Abia State trooped out en masse on the 18th of March 2023, to cast their votes which brought this government into being.
“So, even we have to say it for umpteenth time, it won’t be enough. I will like to use this opportunity to thank every Abia person who participated in the process that brought us here, including those who did not support us at that time, a lot of them are with us now because they have seen the light. “And I want to say thank you to Abia people, thank you to Nigerians, thank you, most importantly, to God who made this period to be possible,” the Governor said.
Promising to march forward in the development strides of his administration, Otti said serious forays would continue into the areas of massive road revolution which are coming with drainages, the light up Abia initiative, the improvement in the state’s health care delivery system, and refocusing and rebuilding the educational system, promotion of trade and commerce and industrialisation, among others.
“When we do all the things we are doing, the target is job creation,” the Governor said.
Speaking on the challenges he inherited, Otti assured Abians that he would not be wearied by the problems he inherited on assumption of office nine months ago, adding that he was rather determined to tackle all challenges with visionary leadership.
He said: “I don’t think that we applied for this job not knowing that we are going to be dealing with problems.
“So, the reason why we sought to retrieve this state from dilapidation is because we knew there were problems. So, we cannot be overwhelmed by the problems.
“And we are encouraged because I think it was Albert Einstein that said that you can never solve a problem using the same mindset that you used in creating it.
“Luckily, we are not the ones that created these ones, but we cannot continue to dwell on the problems, it’s already nine months since we came, getting to 10.
“So, we have consigned the problems and challenges to where they belong. We have folded our sleeves and we are doing what we have to do. So, we cannot be overwhelmed by the challenges, that’s probably why you don’t hear us talk about it because you don’t solve a problem by complaining about it, you solve a problem by doing something about it and something we are doing.”
