India’s Prime Minister Modi arrives in Nigeria
The Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has arrived in Nigeria for a state visit to President Bola Tinubu.
Modi arrived in the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital few minutes before 9pm local time and was received by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike and the Minister of State, Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu.
The Indian PM was recieved into the nation’s capital amid cultural display of Nigerian heritage by the national cultural dance troupes.
He was also welcomed by the delegates of the Indian Community in Nigeria.
It would be recall that the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, had earlier disclosed n a statement issued on saturday that the Nigerian Leader, President Bola Tinubu would host the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi on Sunday, at the State House, Abuja.
Mr Onanuga also made known that the Indian PM would arrive the country on Saturday.
Modi’s visit to Nigeria is the first by an Indian Prime Minister since Dr Manmohan Singh’s state visit in 2007, when Nigeria and India established a strategic partnership.
President Tinubu and Prime Minister Modi will seek to strengthen Nigeria’s and India’s ties further during their bilateral discussions.
Both leaders will also exchange signed Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) to enhance collaboration in critical sectors.
Prime Minister Naranda Modi is on three nations visit to Nigeria, Egypt and Guyana, before proceeding to Rio de Janeiro for the G20 meeting.
