INEC releases NASS elections results, as Labour secures six senatorial, 34 Reps seats, APC retains majority
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced more winners in the National Assembly (NASS) elections conducted last Saturday, February 25.
From the results released, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) maintains its lead in the composition of the forthcoming 10th session of the National Assembly at both the Upper and Lower chambers of the house.
So far, INEC has announced 98 winners out of the total 109 senators who occupy the Upper Chamber, in addition to the 325 of the 360 members at the Federal House of Representatives.
Chairman of INEC), Mahmood Yakubu, who released the latest results during a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs), in Abuja, Saturday, said while the APC leads with an majority 57 seats at the senate, the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) follows with 29, while the Labour Party (LP) emerged with 6 seats for the first time in its history.
INEC also disclosed that LP secured 34 seats at the House of Representatives go come third with APC leading with APC 162, while the PDP follows in close second place with PDP 102.
Prof. Yakubu also said Certificates of Return (CoRs) would be presented to Senators-elect on Tuesday, March 7 at the National Collation Centre (the International Conference Centre), Abuja, while Members of the House of Representatives-elect would receive theirs the following day, Wednesday, March 8, at the same venue.
