Investors record N6.38bn loss as NGX-ASI declines by 0.02%
Nigerian Equities Market closed negative on Wednesday by 0.02% as the NGX-ASI decreased to 67,206.16 from 67,217.77 recorded at the close of the previous trading day; indicating a YTD return of +31.13%.
Market capitalization decreased today by N6.37 billion to N36,923 trillion from N36,929 trillion recorded at the close of the previous trading day, while the market turnover decreased to N4.410 billion from N6.330 billion.
At the end of today’s trading session, a total of 329,660,250 shares in 5,998 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 4,410,533,590.53, were traded.
Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Tuesday, October 24), today’s data shows 3% improvement in volume, 30% decline in turnover, and 4% decline in deals. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 36.9 trillion.
In the aggregate, 120 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 23 gainers and 18 losers. Multiverse Mining & Exploration led the gainers with 9.74% share price appreciation closing at NGN 2.93 per share, followed by Chams (+9.71%), Caverton Offshore Support Group (+9.35%) and FTN Cocoa Processors (+8.97%).
On the losing side, E-Tranzact International came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 10% at NGN 7.56 per share, followed by Sunu Assurances Nigeria (-10%), Deap Capital Management & Trust (-7.41%) and Eterna (-7.09%).
Fidelity Bank recorded the highest volume of 50.3 million traded shares, followed by Access Holdings (43.2m), Chams (26.7m) and United Bank for Africa (25.8m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) pared 11.61 (-0.02%) points to close at 67,206.16, representing a 1-week loss of 0.22%, a 4-week gain of 0.48%, and an overall year-to-date gain of 31.13%.
