I’ve no plan to dump LP for APC, says Reps Member, Kama
From Chinedu Nwafor, Abakaliki
The Member representing, Onicha, Ohaozara and Ivo (OHANIVO) Federal Constituency in the platform of the Labour Party (LP), Hon Nkemkama Kama, has debunked the insinuation in some quarters that he was planing to join the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Kama who hails from Ivo LGA of Ebonyi State, stated this in a chat with Journalists in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital.
“People have been talking about my closeness with the APC and everything, it’s interesting actually. I want to give you a little background so that it will guide you. First and foremost, I am an APC person in the first instance. I want us to understand that I came from APC. I was in APC, there was no division between me and APC. I never quarrelled with APC and never had an issue with APC.
“So, there is no way when there is nothing broken to be parting. I just woke up one day and decide to run an election on a different platform, it doesn’t affect my relationship with where I am coming from and it shouldn’t affect relationship of where I am coming from. So my closeness to APC, to me, is a great advantage for us.
“The most important thing it has done is that you have never heard of any clashes in Ohaozara, Onicha and Ivo federal constituency because of party differences.
“During the distribution of our Christmas palliatives, we called everybody as long as you are from Ohaozara, Onicha and Ivo federal constituency. So, there was no division to say you are from PDP, APC and all that. So, like I said, it doesn’t matter whether you are APC or whatever, I am in tandem with everybody.
“My own interest is unity in my constituency and to make sure that everything goes well. People talking about APC this, APC that, it doesn’t come up.”
Hon Kama whose defection rumor became rife following the defection of his political son, Hon Celestine Ifeanyi Ogba who is representing Onicha East State Constituency in Ebonyi State House of Assembly on the platform of the LP, has however, maintained that he had no plans to leave his party.
“When you say your boy, it’s a term that doesn’t exist because nobody is anybody’s boy. Everybody is a full grown man who takes the responsibility to do whatever he wants to do. Yes, Ifeanyi Ogba is now in APC, that is a path he has chosen to toe and he has his reasons.
“For me, I believe that whatever we do, we have our reasons for doing so. So, he has his reasons for doing what he did but for me, Kama, am not moving anywhere and it’s obvious to everybody. I have no reason to move. There is no division like I said.
Giving insight to his closeness to the ruling APC government of Ebonyi State, Kama explained that the State Governor, Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, does not discriminate, adding that he had been backing him in everything he does, not minding he is of a different political party.
“My Governor, His Excellency Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, doesn’t discriminate, he backs me in everything I do. He never treated me differently as somebody from another party. In the whole of Ebonyi State, the Governor has brought everybody together and nobody is talking about party.
“So, please, we don’t discuss parties, the Governor has broken that jinx. He sees me as Kama, he just wants me to perform. So, I am not a political orphan, I have a father. Everybody is in tune with what is going on in the state; there is no division, there is no discrimination, there is no crisis. The Governor made it so and we are all happy for it,” he stated.
