Join hands to build better tomorrow, commissioner pleads with Abians
From Boniface Okoro, Umuahia
Abia State government has pleaded with the people to join hands with the present administration to build a brighter tomorrow.
The appeal is contained in a New Year message by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu.
“As we look forward to the future, we invite all Abians and residents to join hands with us in building a brighter tomorrow.
“Let us work together to create a state that works for all. Let us strive to be brothers’ and sisters’ keepers, and to uplift one another in our pursuit of excellence,” the Commissioner said in a statement made available to newsmen in Umuahia.
Kanu said such joint partnership and collaborations between government and the people would help to deliver more dividends of democracy to the people.
According to the government’s mouthpiece, under the visionary leadership of Governor Alex Otti, Abia State has witnessed significant transformations in various sectors since the inception of this administration.
“We are proud to highlight some of the key achievements of our administration, which have positively impacted the lives of our citizens. From the completion of critical infrastructure projects to the implementation of innovative initiatives in education, healthcare, civil service, agriculture, social welfare and services, we have demonstrated our commitment to creating a better Abia for all.
“Our Governor’s commitment to good governance has earned us recognition and accolades, both within and outside the state. We have strengthened our institutions, empowered our citizens, and created an enabling environment for businesses to thrive,” the statement read in part.
The New Year, the Commissioner noted, provides opportunity for reflection on the progress made as a people in the past year and the promises government has kept.
“As we enter the new year, we are filled with hope and optimism for the future. We are confident that our collective efforts will yield even greater dividends, and that Abia State will continue to rise to its rightful position as a hub of great opportunities , prosperity and security where everyone can live, work, and thrive,” he said.
Kanu assured that his Ministry was committed to the promotion and enhancement of public engagement “by a deliberate policy of inclusiveness in the governance process, using different communication tools and channels.”
“We will continue to facilitate citizens’ engagement by enhancing awareness about government’s policies and activities,” he added.
“Once again, we wish you a happy and prosperous New Year. May the new year bring us joy, peace, and fulfillment,” he prayed..
