Kaduna govt confirms abduction of 10 students from secondary school
Kaduna Government has confirmed attack on another public institution in the state, as suspected bandits stormed the Government Day Secondary School in Awon, Kachia local government area abducting 10 students in the attack.
In a statement confirming the attack issued, Tuesday, state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said the students were abducted on Monday.
Aruwan said the preliminary report received by the state government did not ascertain whether the students were kidnapped in the school or outside.
The commissioner said the state government is waiting for further information on where the abduction took place.
“The Kaduna state government has received preliminary reports from security agencies on the kidnapping of about 10 students in Kachia LGA”, the statement reads.
“According to the preliminary reports, the students of Government Secondary School, Awon (a day secondary school) were kidnapped on Monday.
“The exact location of the incident is yet to be ascertained, but detailed reports being awaited will clarify whether the incident occurred within the school premises or elsewhere.
“The government will issue a public statement accordingly when these reports are received.”
In July 2021, bandits scaled a fence to break into the Bethel Baptist High School in Kaduna state taking away most of the 165 pupils boarding overnight.
The kidnappers took away 140 students, only 25 students escaped.
