Kano Govt receives educational consumables donated by Zenith Bank
Kano State Government has promised to remain focused on changing the deplorable situation of education it inherited from the immediate past administration.
To achieve this goal, the government said it would rely on the support of well-meaning individuals and corporate organizations.
The State Commissioner for Education, Alh. Umar Haruna Doguwa stated this while receiving a consignment of educational consumables worth millions of naira, donated to the state government by Zenith Bank Plc.
“The level of dilapidation in our schools is so bad that we need all hands on deck to change things. When you look at infrastructure, teaching materials, hostels, etc in our public schools, everything has decayed but we are determined to correct the situation”, the Commissioner emphasized.
Alh. Umar Doguwa said the government’s explicit commitment in this direction, would not only encourage Zenith Bank but other organized institutions to support the state government to revitalize the education sector.
He assured that the present administration in Kano state will continue to relate well with Zenith Bank, as a partner in progress, assuring that the educational resources donated by the bank to the government would be prudently utilized.
Earlier on, the Regional Director, North, Zenith Bank, Dr Sani Yahaya said the donation with comprised 40, 000 exercise books, 600 cartons of chalk, 20, 000 biros, 130,000 pencils, among others, is part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility.
