Apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has applauded the judgement of the Appeal Court which discharged and acquitted the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB) Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, of the charges preferred against him by the Nigerian government.
An Abuja Court of Appeal had on Thursday delivered judgement in favour of Kanu.
Mr Chiedozie Alex Ogbonnia, the National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, described the judgement as a welcome development.
He said: “Ohanaeze is very happy with this development. We are happy because the insecurity ravaging the South East and the Monday sit-at-home that has crippled our economy will come to an end.
“We are confident that with today’s judgement, South East region will witness peaceful and transparent election because our people are already nursing the fear that 2023 will be threatened by insecurity.”
