Lagos APC suspends campaign as cash, fuel riots spark
The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced suspension of planned campaign activities following growing pains in the land over cash drain in the market and acute fuel scarcity.
The suspension of party campaigns comes hotly after reports of riots in neighbouring states against the biting fuel scarcity and Naira crunch in the markets.
The Chairman, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi, said in a media statement issued by the party that the decision came in response to the prevailing pains on the people inflicted by fuel scarcity and the lingering crises associated with the Naira redesign.
In expressing concerns for the people, he said it would be insensitive to forge ahead with the various rallies with the situation of things where the poor masses face difficulties of survival.
He noted that as integral part of the society, the members of his party are not spared the hardship caused by the crises in the country.
He called on the government to quickly address the fuel scarcity in the country and pump out more Naira notes to ease daily lives. He also charged all residents of Lagos State to remain law abiding.
