Lagos Assembly screens 20 commissioner-nominees, as Sanwo-Olu appoints six new SAs
Lagos State House of Assembly (LAHA) says it has screened 20 out of the 39 commissioner-nominees sent to it by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Governor Sanwo-Olu had submitted a total of 39 commissioners and Special Adviser-nominees to the House for screening and confirmation on July 28.
Speaker of the House, Mr Mudashiru Obasa had earlier set up a 12-man committee for the screening.
Chairman of the committee, Honourable Mojeed Fatai said, “Twenty of the 39 nominees have so far been screened by the committee which began sitting on Sunday.’’
He added that the screening would be completed by Wednesday, being the deadline given to the committee.
Meanwhile, state Governor Sanwo-Olu, has announced the appointment of six special advisers (non-cabinet) to serve in various capacities across the ministries.
Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mrs Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, made this known in a statement on Monday.
Salu-Hundeyin said the newly appointed Special Advisers include; Mrs Iyabo Ayoola (Special Adviser, Central Internal Audit) and Mr Olalekan Balogun (Special Adviser, Economic Planning and Budget).
Others are; Mr Akinyemi Ajigbotafe as the Special Adviser, Community Development and the Very Rev. Bukola Adebiyi as Special Adviser, Christian Religion.
Dr Abdullahi Jebe was appointed as the Special Adviser, Muslim Religion, while Mr Ismail Odesanya was appointed as the Special Adviser, DAWN Commission and South-West Integration.
Salu-Hundeyin, in the statement, also congratulated the appointees and ‘encouraged them to align their contributions with Gov. Sanwo-Olu’s vision for a greater Lagos.’
According to the SSG, the appointments take immediate effect.
