Lagos cordons off Lekki-Epe Expressway over petrol tanker/Tipper accident
Part of the Lekki-Epe Expressway has been cordoned off to traffic for safety following an accident in involving a full-laden petrol tanker and a Tipper.
The accident which occurred at the Majek Bus Stop, inward Sangotedo, Lekki-Epe Expressway, saw the petrol tanker spilling its content on the road, necessitating the authorities of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service to cordon off the road to traffic.
An announcement issued by the Director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Mrs. Adeseye Margaret, further advised motorist and pedestrians to ‘tread with utmost caution around this corridor until the evacuation is completed.’
“There has been an accident involving a Mack Tanker fully laden with 45,000 litres of Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS) and a Tipper Truck at Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lagos, Sunday, 12th September, 2021.
“The tanker, which was reportedly hit by a run-away tipper truck, spilt its content while trying to enter an NNPC Filling Station along the axis.
“The incident, which occurred at Majek Bus Stop, inward Sangotedo, Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lagos, has been cordoned off to prevent danger.
“The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is mitigating the situation with the deployment of Chemical Foam Compound to neutralise petrol from causing a secondary incident.
“Motorists and passers-by are hereby advised to tread with utmost caution around this corridor until the evacuation is completed,” the notice read.
