Emergency units of the Lagos Government, including the police, the State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), both the federal and state fire service and others are battling to pull out about 50 persons suspected to be trapped as a 21-storey building collapsed in the Ikoyi area of the state.
The incident occurred Monday afternoon.
The property located off Alexander Way, Gerrard Road in Ikoyi trapped the building supervisor and about 50 other construction workers when it collapsed on them.
Those trapped are said to be workers on site of the building which was still under construction when it fell on them.
A survivor from the rubble was rushed to the hospital as at 6pm, over four hours after the incident occurred.
The collapsed building was part of three towers being built by private developer, Fourscore Homes.
In a brochure for potential clients, the company promises to offer ‘a stress-free lifestyle, complete with a hotel flair.’
The cheapest unit was selling for at least N500 million.
