Lagos to launch new ride hailing service, LagRide
Lagos Government has concluded plans to enter the ride hailing business with the launch of the ‘LagRide’ service across the state.
According to the State Government, Sunday, he service will be launched soon, even as the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said it is ‘targeted at improving mobility and creating a multi-modal transportation system for Lagosians.’
“The scheme is in fulfilment of our desire to give residents better transportation choices. The modern ride service is one of the State Government’s socio-economic intervention programmes, which will be professionally managed in line with global best practices,” the governor said.
Last Sunday, the Lagos Ride cars caused a stir on 3rd Mainland Bridge with a display of hundreds of the blue colour branded Lagos Ride vehicles.
Traffic was reduced to a snarl as motorists gawked at the long convoy of vehicles.
The app for hailing the service is available on Google Play store where the company describes itself as “a mobility solution that will allow users book and share the cost of a ride with similar transit patterns. It will link up users based on their preferred pick and drop off points each not more than 1km apart respectively and pick-up time not more than 5 mins apart.”
