…honour re-elected Chairman Rasulu Idowu and Vice
A Lagos-based political group, Ndigbo All Progressive Congress(APC) in Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos last week organised a ceremony in honour of the candidate party who was re-elected in July 24,2021 local government election in the state.
It was a very big occasion as Ndigbo in Ojo and environs came out in large number to honour the Chairman of Ojo Local Government, Mr Rasulu Idowu, along with his able Vice, Princess Edna Ubochi, who competed in the July election on the platform of APC
Idowu was re-elected on the local government poll in Lagos State haven polled 9,111 votes to defeat his opponents including the candidate Oniyide Olajide of the Peoples Democratic Party who got 1,526 votes.
The event was a “thank-you” to Ndigbo in Ojo ,who came out in large number to re-elect Mr. Idowu, who the people , said performed creditably well in his first term. Idowu, they said , is a man of his word who never reneged on his promises as was exemplified by his empowerment programmes .
In his opening remarks on the occasion ,Chairman of Ndigbo in APC Ojo Local Government (OLGA) in Lagos State and Friends of Rasulu and Edna Campaign Organaization (FREDCO), Chief Uche M. Ubochi said he was delighted that the event which he said never held before came to pass. The party leader expressed delight that Ndigbo in Ojo LGA turned out and voted massively for APC candidates in the last LG polls in Lagos State.
The highly elated Uboch said “My joy knows no bound as I welcome all of you to this great occasion which is the first in the annals of the history of Igbos in Ojo Local Government .”
“The Igbos have been playing prominent and remarkable roles in the development and growth of Ojo Local government Area and Lagos State, and have been rewarded with a Vice-Chairman position in the local government but no time has a ceremony of this nature been conceived nor celebrated.”
“Our part, APC ,also deserves accolades and great compliments for carrying Ndigbo along. It has not only hesitated to give deserving appointments to Ndigbo but has also presented opportunities for them to accomplish their political aspirations. The party is truly a national party,” declared Ubochi , a barrister-at-law and former Chairman of the International Market Association (Electronics) and Public Relations Office of Alaba International Amalgamated Market Association.
Ubochi said pledged that Ndigbo will remain a viable vehicle for the accomplishment of of the laudable programmes and objectives of the party.
“We will always work assiduously for the victory of the party in all elections,” he said.
Special Adviser for Drainage & Water Resources to Governor of Lagos State, Engr. Joe Igbokwe, who is also the undisputed Leader of Indigbo in APC in Lagos State urged Ndigbo to continue to give their unalloyed support to APC and the state government.
Coordinator of Ndigbo in APC ,Lagos State, Eze Dimgba, in his remarks expressed delight that more Igbo groups in Lagos were fusing into Ndigb in Lagos APC.
He also pledged their unalloyed support for the leadership of National Leader of APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and Governor Sanwo-Olu at the party.
He, therefore, urged members to be committed to the objectives of the group, saying, “that is the only way to make APC a stronger party in the state.”
Dimgba said that Sanwo-Ou-led administration was keeping his electoral promises to improve a lot of residents, adding “the group is impressed with the performance of the governor.”
All the ethnic groups operating Ojo Local Government Area were represented at the ceremony which was also designed to ensure that APC remains the a party-for-all in the area.
