
Landing plane flips upside-down at icy Toronto airport

A plane with over 80 passengers and crew crash-landed on an icy runway at Toronto airport on Monday when it flipped, lost its wings and laid upside-down on its roof.
The Oracle Today learnt that as many as eight people were hurt in the emergency, though the extent of their injuries was not immediately clear.

An official statement in the United States has it that Delta Air Lines Flight 4819, operated by Endeavor Air, crashed while landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport in Canada around 2:45 p.m.local time on Monday.
“All 80 people on board were evacuated. The CRJ-900 departed Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada will be in charge of the investigation and will provide any updates,” the US aviation regulator stated.
The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA also stated separately that crew members were working onn the flight were also rescued alive.
“Reports are there are no fatalities. Please do not speculate on this incident as everyone works to gather information and support those involved,” the association stated.
After dispatching emergency services to the site of the crash, Toronto Pearson Airport stated in Canada stated that “all passengers and crew are accounted for.”
Ontario’s air ambulance service, Ornge, said “one paediatric patient is currently being transported to Sick Kids with critical injuries.”
It has dispatched three air ambulance helicopters and two Critical Care Land Ambulances to the scene, it added.
Images shared on social media show a plane which appears to have flipped over and is lying on its roof on the snow-covered tarmac. It is missing at least one of its wings.
The airport had been experiencing weather-related delays over the last few days, with heavy snowfall battering parts of Ontario.
