LP youths demand declaration of Peter Obi elected President
The Acting National Youth Leader of the Labour Party, Prince Kennedy Ahanotu, has demanded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to officially declare the party’s candidate in the presidential polls, Mr Peter Obi, winner.
Prince Ahanotu stated in a media release on the party’s website that results being announced by the electoral body “does not reflect and correspond with the results of the votes casted by Nigerians at their various polling units.”
He also called for suspension of further collation of the various state election results in the International Conference Center ICC “without same result being uploaded or readily available on the INEC IREV platform.”
He further demanded that that the already announced Ekiti State result be revisited and dully verified before final collation. Very important
Prince Ahanotu thanked all supporters of the party and the youths of the country for turning out en-mass “to exercise your franchise by voting our Labour Party Presidential Candidate His Excellency Mr Peter Obi whose candidacy restored hope, strength and belief in democracy.”
He urged them to remain focused and issue based despite this level of provocation because our victory is certain.
“Thank you for your massive votes to the Labour Party,” he said.
He pointed at the flaws in the conduct and results of the Saturday presidential polls which he decscribed as being marred “by massive irregularities; and could not just be regarded as a political disappointment but has consequentially endangered Nigeria democracy.
“It is now obvious to us that some unscrupulous elements hiding under the electoral umpire and in visible partnership with the electoral umpire INEC have concluded to derail our growing democracy. This is unacceptable.”
