Magistrates begin two weeks strike over welfare issues in Cross River

The Magistrates Association of Nigeria, MAN Cross River State chapter have kicked off a two week strike over welfare issues.
The reasons for the strike borders on the eight points demands of the magistrates to the Cross River State government which has not been met.
These demands include provision of official vehicles, payment of monthly imprest, payment of yearly robing allowance and provision of official accommodation.
The magistrates also demanded for the payment of the earned and accrued two years’ salary arrears for the 2019 batch of magistrates as well as the renovation of the dilapidated Magistrate’s courts in Cross River State.
The two weeks strike was made available in Bulletin Number one signed by the Chairman of MAN, Cross River State Chapter His Worship, Godwin Onah and secretary His Worship, Solomon Abuo.
The magistrates said its strike notice is in line with congress resolution to proceed on a warning strike
It said the strike will run for two weeks in the first instance effective from 6 am on Wednesday, 27th November 2024 to Wednesday, 11 December, 2024.
The magistrates further threatened that failure of the State Government to meet its demands, an indefinite strike shall be embarked upon until all our demands are fully met.
