Mimiko urges NASS, Buhari to ensure Amended Electoral Act becomes reality, predicts brighter future for Nigeria
Former Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko has posited that the country will overcome the series of challenges it is currently going through.
This is also as he urged the National Assembly and President Muhammadu Buhari to expedite action towards signing into law the Amended Electoral Act.
Mimiko made this call in his New Year message issued on Saturday, January 1, through his Special Assistant on Media and Digital Communications, John Paul Akinduro noting that 2021 was no doubt a turbulent one for Nigerians.
The ex-governor and a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who expressed optimism on the potential greatness of the country, said the feat will be achieved with the right leaders come 2023.
In the message, he called on Nigerians to do the needful come 2023; by choosing the right leaders at the polls.
While reiterating his stand on restructuring as panacea to Nigeria’s many problems, Mimiko emphasised that one of the things holding Nigeria back from greatness was the faulty electoral system of the country.
He admonished the National Assembly and President Muhammadu Buhari to do the needful in ensuring that the Amended Electoral Act becomes a reality.
