Barr. Ekpenyong Akiba, the Special Adviser to the Cross River State governor on General Duties says his honorary Doctorate Degree of Divinity in divinity is a call to promote the work of humanity.
Barr. Akiba disclosed this after being awarded a honorary doctorate degree in Divinity during the 21st convocation ceremony by the Apostolic Church Bible College and Seminary in Calabar.
It was presented in recognition of his human capital development as well as his contribution to the development of the state and nation at large.
Speaking in an interview, he said, “I’m very pleased and thankful to the Almighty God first for life and the opportunity to be lifted.
” I also thank his Excellency, the people’s governor Senator Bassey Otu who is the reason for this celebration. He has given us the space and the platform to be discovered by this famous institution.
” I’ll continue to do all I can in the angle of prioritizing what is right, justiciable, what is good for our people and also promote the work of humanity”, he said.
Earlier, the rector of the institution Pastor Offiong Asuquo emphasized the importance of education.
He disclosed that secular education generally trains, moulds and prepares the individual for various vocations but cannot transform the heart of men.
He however said Bible based education fills this gap which secular education cannot.
He congratulated the graduates of the school and encouraged them to always remain worthy ambassadors.
