Federal government has cleared an indigenous aviation technology company, Elint Systems Limited, to assume the role of drone traffic management in the country; making it the first time unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) reined into a controlled traffic management arrangement.
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on Wednesday gave a No Technical Objection (NTO) to Elint Systems Limited for the deployment of its Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) System, marking a pivotal step forward in enhancing the safety, monitoring, and security of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operations across the country.
The traffic management system is designed to provide comprehensive management and oversight of UAV activities, ensuring safe and efficient integration of drones into the national airspace.
The Oracle Today reports that Elint Systems Limited is a leading provider of innovative UTM solutions in Nigeria. The company says it is focused on a mission to enhance the safety, monitoring, and security of UAV operations through cutting-edge technology and a commitment to excellence.
“We strive to support the growth and development of the UAV industry by providing robust and reliable management systems that meet the highest standards of safety and efficiency,” Elint Systems declares.
Government’s issuance of the NTO to the company endorses the rigorous standards and innovative solutions that Elint Systems Limited committed in developing the UTM system.
Elint’s UTM system, according to the company, provides real-time monitoring for enhanced situational awareness for UAV operations. The service is delivered through continuous tracking and data analytics. It also provides protocols for advanced safety measures and automated conflict detection to prevent collisions and ensure secure operations.
On compliance management, the system provides a robust framework for ensuring UAV operations comply with national regulations and standards. It also offers seamless integration with existing air traffic management systems for coordinated and efficient airspace use.
“We are honored to receive the No Technical Objection from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), which underscores our dedication to safety, innovation, and excellence in UAV management. Our UTM system represents a new era of aviation in Nigeria, where unmanned aerial vehicles can operate safely and efficiently, contributing to various sectors including agriculture, logistics, and surveillance.
“This approval is not just a milestone for ELINT SYSTEMS LIMITED, but a significant advancement for the entire UAV industry in Nigeria. We look forward to working closely with the NCAA and other stakeholders to ensure the successful deployment and operation of our UTM system, paving the way for safer skies and a more connected nation,” the company stated.
