A total of 50 unemployed graduates from Anambra State are undergoing 5-day training from the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) to be self reliant.
The NDE programme follows the Abia edition organised by the agency for unemployed graduates in the state.
The training which was tagged; “Enterprise Start-up and Development Scheme”, was developed as part of the effort of the Directorate to equip the participants with professional and business skills which would enhance their capacity to succeed in their chosen businesses.
Director-General of NDE Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo who disclosed this in Awka, said the training was part of efforts of the Federal government to reduce the rising rate of unemployment in the country.
Represented by the Deputy Director, South East zonal office, Mrs. Ifeoma Ezepue, the Director General explained that the entire job creation activities of the Directorate covered three broad categories which were vertically integrated.
“The concept of the Enterprise Start-Up and Development Training Scheme, ESDTS, is to offer business training to graduates of tertiary institutions desiring to take up self- employment by becoming young entrepreneurs”.
The state Coordinator of NDE, Mrs. Chika Ufelle said the participants would be taught on how to discover their potentials as an entrepreneur and how to establish own enterprise.
According to her, the participants will also be trained on how to manage, sustain and grow business, how to avoid business failure and how to write a feasibility study report among others.
Ufelle added: “To this extent, the Directorate took the initiative to enter into collaboration with some credit granting institutions in order to expand the scope of its resettlement activities to accommodate more skilled unemployed persons.
“Some of the organisations the NDE has collaborated with in this regard include the Central Bank of Nigeria through the NIRSAL Micro Finance Bank( AGSMEIS Loan scheme), Bank of Agriculture (BOA), National Economic Reconstruction Fund ( NERFUND).” She stated.
